Implementation of new security requirements for online transactions with VISA payment cards is postponed

On February this year Luminor has announced that starting from April this year, it will gradually phase out the current method of authentication of online payments made by VISA card: one-off security codes sent by SMS will no longer be used SMS will no longer be used.
 
Luminor is actively preparing for the implementation of changes, but due to unprecedented and extreme situation in Lithuania and whole world implementation will take longer than anticipated – the current method of authentication of online payments will be gradually phased out starting from the middle of May till end of June.
 
We would like to note that till changes becomes effective for all VISA payment cards, online payments may be required to be validated using current authentication method – one-off security codes sent by SMS.

Luminor reminds:

  1. Once changes will take effect, customers may be required to validate their online transactions using Luminor Internet bank and means of one of the following secure authentication facilities: Smart-ID, code generator or mobile signature.
  2. In order to be able to confirm online payment made by VISA card it is mandatory to have signed Internet bank agreement.
  3. For private customers who have ordered an additional payment card in the name of another person: card holders may be required to update their personal data and conclude an agreement with Luminor on the use of the Internet Bank.
  4. For heads of enterprises and other organisations: business card holders may be required to update their personal data and conclude an agreement with Luminor on the use of the Internet Bank.

Customers who have ordered a payment card in their own name and who have concluded an agreement with Luminor on the use of the Internet Bank, are not required to take any additional actions.

If payment card is not used for online purchases – not required to take any additional actions.
