2007 growth of Nordea Bank Lietuva exceeds forecasts
2007-10-16
At the end of the third quarter of this year, the bank's total loan portfolio totalled
LTL 3.975 billion, an annual increase of 82.9 percent (last year's loan
portfolio totalled LTL 2.173 billion). During the first nine months of this
year, the amount of loans granted to residents increased by LTL 514 million,
amounting to LTL 1.318 billion. Deposits increased by 21.4 percent compared to
the same period in the previous year, amounting to LTL 1.151 billion (LTL 947.5
at the end of the third quarter of 2006).
This year, the bank expects to earn over LTL 20 million, whereas its assets are likely to reach LTL 5 billion.
"The 2007 growth of Nordea Bank Lietuva has been faster than the market, which demonstrates that we are offering our clients the most useful solutions available. On the other hand, the market situation is gradually changing, and the loan boom is declining;
therefore, Nordea is planning to offer more savings products. Furthermore, we'll
continue expanding our branch office network and hold our position among the lending
leaders," Nordea Bank Lietuva General Manager Steen Trondhjem Nielsen said.
At present, the bank has offices in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, and Panevėžys. Plans are
to open four new offices this year. The bank has 70,000 clients and has issued 60,000 payment and credit cards.
According to Rimas Petrauskas, General Manager of Nordea Finance Lithuania, a branch of Nordea
Bank Lietuva providing leasing and factoring services, this year's growth
exceeds all forecasts.
The leasing portfolio increased by 56 percent since the beginning of the year, totalling LTL 340 million at the end of the third quarter. Compared to the same period in the prior
year, portfolio growth equalled 70 percent.
"One of the most important growth factors is the leasing service sales volumes, which almost doubled compared to the same period last year and this year exceed LTL 204 million.
Sales during the 3rd quarter alone equalled LTL 73 million. Nordea Finance Lithuania has considerably strengthened its position in the area of financing equipment, heavy vehicles, and cars. The growth of factoring services has been even more impressive - during the first
nine months of the year, the factoring turnover increased by 531 percent and
exceeded LTL 0.5 billion, and the growth of the factoring portfolio during the
same period equalled 216 percent and totalled LTL 160 million," Mr Petrauskas
said.
